- If you look at the 1920 aerial view photo below you'll see that this
site was part of the original Wellington pub building, the majority frontage
on the High Street
of which was J.W Carr Chemists.
On February 18th 1941 this was the site of the third bomb that struck Newmarket.
The ground floor part of J.W Carr Chemists continued trading but this site was completely rebuilt, initially as just the ground floor and then the first floor was added later.
- Most Newmarketonians remember this being the location of the much
loved Milk bar restaurant.
